Sharing is caring! [Music competition]

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

I don’t know about you guys but as soon as I turn on my computer I always listen to music. I often listen to music more than 8 hours in a day and after a while, even your favorite songs gets boring. I came to a point a few days ago when I realized that almost every one of my favorite songs that I have saved in my Spotify playlist now bores me.

My guess is that I’m not the only one destroying even the best music in this way, so if you want something new to listen to this could be something for you. My thougt is that we could start sharing our playlists here on our blog. As I already mentioned I’m using Spotify. I know that this service is not available in all countries but then you might have a favorite Youtube playlist that you want to share.

I will start by sharing my playlist and If you want to you can share your favorite playlist by posting a link to it as a comment to this blog post. Here you go:

Some people say that you can’t compete in music but as you probably already know, we compete in everything and the coolest playlist will be rewared with €5 to your account.

Scotty Nguyen will write a book about his colorful life – and he wants a fan to be the author

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

“I did a tweet about wanting to do a book, and needed a writer! I had no idea I would get so many dm’s about doing it baby! Here’s the deal, I want to do a book on my life, I have held off for many years on doing it, but now I’m ready baby! This is very important to me. However I would prefer to have a fan be the writer rather than a “ghost writer”.  So, I am going to give my fans the opportunity for the job first baby! If I don’t find someone through my fans, then I will use a ghost writer, or just hold off on doing it; in which I’d probably just hold off again.

As many of you know, my life has been full of every emotion imaginable! I need someone to write in a way that brings the reader’s into the book, something you don’t want to put down, full of emotion but with the right amounts. I want you all to remember, I have only one life, and this is the life I’m telling, so I have one shot of having it told and told in the best way possible. I don’t want anyone to get upset or get your feelings hurt if I don’t chose you, I love you all baby and that’s why I want to give you all this opportunity first.

I’m going to give you all until Friday, August 13th to submit to me the following:

Email me at with the subject of “Book”, your name, your contact information, previous writing history if any, your requested pay along with I would like to have one page of sample writing by you, and I would like this to be on your life or a made up life, using emotion like what I describe above. I don’t want any writings that are not yours or not original to you baby!”

Scotty Nguyen won the WSOP main event back in 1998 and went deep in this year’s tournament ending on 209th place among 7,319 entries cashing $48,847. His book will surely be colorful, but who will be the writer?

WSOP 2010, Scotty Nguyen: I´m kickin’ ass, baby

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Scotty Nguyen stormed through the field on day 4 of the WSOP Main Event.

- I’m kickin’ ass, baby, this is my year, Scotty told after today’s play in Las Vegas.

The world champion and ambassador started the day with just over 47,000 in chips, but ended on 632,000 after twelve hours of poker drama at Rio Hotel. Scotty tells on the phone from Las Vegas:

- The turning point came when I was all in preflop with pocket kings and doubled up to 75,000 in chips. It just all worked for me today. I had QQ a few times and they hold up, as well as some key KK and AA. I feel very good heading into day 5, baby!

Scotty is among 595 players remaining after 1,203 players headed into day 4. In total 7,319 players started in this year’s Main Event competing about a massive $68,798,600, where the last nine clashes in the final table in London in November.

- I aim to be there, baby, Scotty says.

Looking at Scotty’s performance on day 4 he is a player to watch for any competitor going forward. He has almost double the average stack and he knows what it takes after his world championship title back in 1998 and his 11th place in the same main event in 2007.

2010 World Cup Final, Netherlands vs Spain [video]

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Holland or Spain? It is time for the big World Cup final in South Africa and Dan and Richie can’t wait for the kick-off in Johannesburg on Sunday evening. Richie likes the odds on Holland, 3.65, and ten times the money on Robben to become first scorer is also worth having a look at. David Villa and Wesley Sneijder are at the same time fighting to become Golden Boot trophy winners. Both stand on five goals each and Villa is the favorite to become top scorer at 1.75, while Sneijder pays 3.75 in odds. Spain is the favorite to win the match at 2.15 but Holland is in great form being unbeaten in their last 25 games and will be well backed. Also, watch out for a special-guest in the show – Paul the Octopus!

Final Match Sunday 11th July:

20:30 Netherlands – Spain

Post your correct score prediction between Uruguay – Netherlands and we’ll give away €5 to the first correct prediction.

World Cup 2010, everyone remembers the top scorer

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

While we are preparing for the final and the bronze match in South Africa and comparing the teams and checking the odds inside and out, I have gone down memory lane looking back at some World Cups. What all big, memorable World Cups have in common is that they have a crowned king of the tournament. Mention 1986 and you think Maradona. 1982 spells Paolo Rossi. 1998 Zidane. And so on. As we approach the two last matches in South Africa it looks likely that either David Villa or Wesley Sneider will be the crowned king of South Africa 2010. I am not so fancied by Villa, he is a great player in a great team and nothing more sticks out, but I am truly amazed by Sneijder.

A friend told me that Inter coach Moruinho texted Sneijder some tactical orders when his transfer from Real Madrid was completed in August last year. The day after the contract was signed Sniejder made his debut and played a starring role when Inter thrashed AC Milan 4-0 in the San Siro derby. Mourinho is a clever coach and he knew that Sneider, educated in the Ajax academy getting all the goodies you can ask for as a youth learning the trade, would adapt easily tactically only with a couple of text messages. After that, Sneijder have never looked back winning the treble with Inter and now leading Holland to the World Cup final.

Sneijder have scored five goals so far, same amount as Villa, and yet he has not shown his classiest touch on the field yet: the set-pieces. It would be a true saga if Sneijder would score on a free-kick and lead this stubborn team to the title. At the same time, Spain is the favorite and Villa himself will equal Raul´s all-time record as Spain´s  best goal-scorer if he scores in the final. Not to mention that he probably will grab the Golden Boot.

Meanwhile, in the bronze match, Mirsolav Klose eyes Brazilian Ronaldo´s all-time record in the World Cup with 15 goals. One goal and Klose is on the same level in the history books, and if he scores two he passes the great Roanldo and could even win the Golden Boot. So let us wait and see who will be remembered as the king in South Africa 2010. But I must admit I hope for Sneijder.

The odds:

Final match (Sunday 20.30)

Holland – Spain  3.65  3.20  2.15

Bronze match (Saturday 20.30)

Uruguay – Germany 5.20  3.70  1.70

Top scorer:

D Villa 1.75

W Sneijder 3.60

M Klose 5.50

T Muller 15.00

D Forlan 15.00

L Suarez 67.00

L Podolski 67.00

A Robben 151.00

Scotty Nguyen steps into the WSOP main event today – My strategy is simple: to win it baby!

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Scotty Nguyen, who won the main event title in 1998 and the $50,000 HORSE World Championship in 2008, had a hectic May when he welcomed the winners in Scotty’s Boot Camp in Las Vegas.

- It was great to meet the winners from and talk poker and have some fun time showing them my hometown. I hope to make them proud during the main event.

Scotty also nearly made the final table of the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event, finishing in 11th place out of a field of 6,358 and earning $476,926. He is as always one of the favorites ahead of the long and challenging main event.

Will you do anything different compared to last year’s?

- Nothing different baby! Just play my game baby!

Is the main event the big goal for you this year?

- Of course baby! Every year it is baby!

How would you look back at the year so far, in terms of result?

- So far a decent year baby! I also work for better baby!

How do you look back at the WSOP so far for you own sake in terms of result and play?

- I played good, but ran into a lot of bad luck baby! That’s poker baby!

How do you use your own success earlier in the main event at the table?

-  It is always good to have that in the back-pocket baby!
