Djokovic – the next world number one

Monday, May 9th, 2011

The ATP 1000 Madrid Masters just ended and Novak Djokovic claimed his sixed consecutive win this season, when he defeated Nadal in the final yesterday. His way to the final wasn’t as easy as usual though. In the semi-final he was up against the young Brazilian Tomaz Bellucci who showed his best tennis and won the first set. But Djokovic had no intention to let the opponent get away with the win, he came back and got through to the final.

The Serbian has won every match since the beginning of the year starting with the Australian Open in late January. Before Roland Garros starts in the end of the month we have the upcoming ATP 1000 Tournament in Rome to look forward to. If Djokovic continues his winning streak and Nadal gets knocked out before the semi-finals, he will be crowned as the world number 1. So what do you think – will Djokovic win his seventh tournament of the year and come one step closer to becoming the World Number 1? We will get the answer during the week so stay tuned at and find your best picks of pre-live odds or in-play betting.

Race for the Premiership, Man Utd vs Chelsea

Friday, May 6th, 2011

Only three points separate Man Utd from Chelsea in the most exciting climax to an English Premiership in many years, and on Sunday afternoon the two giants go head to head at Old Trafford. It is a must win game for the Blues whereas perhaps a draw would suffice for the Reds. Jonathan looks ahead to the game and puts his head on the line !

Dortmund champions but still still excitement in the league

Friday, May 6th, 2011

Well, it finally happened. Dordmund wrapped things up and claimed the title last weekend. It was, one must say, truly well deserved. They have been by far the best side in Germany this year and will take comfort in the fact that they secured the title two match days before the end of the season. Big congratulations to all Dortmund fans out there!

At the foot of the table there is still a battle for avoiding relegation. St Pauli are more or less already in the 2. Bundesliga but Monchengladbach, Frankfurt, Wolfsburg, Stuttgart, Bremen, and Koln are still in the race. Monchengladbach are in a bad position tablewise, but their form is quite good so they might escape the dreading relegation. Frankfurt play Koln this weekend which promises to be a tightly contested game of great importance. Can the team from Hessen grab all three points and overtake any team in the table?

Exept of the relegation battle there is still excitement at the other end of the table. Who will grab the third position in the league? Bayern Munich won at home to Schalke last weekend and look to be in the driving seat. However, “the reds” from Munich have lacked consistency this year so, they might stumble on the goal line.
