Wimbledon 2010, we have reached semi-finals!

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

It is time for semi-finals in one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year and we have two awesome clashes in gentlemen’s singles to look for to, Tomas Berdych-Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray-Rafael Nadal. Berdych who defeated the big favorite Roger Federer in his quater-final is really showing the tennis world that he is ready for some big titles. Djokovic have had a comfortable way to this semi-final but has at the same time impressed with some good tennis. This semi-final is almost impossible to predict but my feeling is that Djokovic has this in his own hands. Berdych won’t away anything for free so he has to win it by playing good, pobably for five set. Murray-Nadal is another thriller but I can’t see Nadal losing to Murray here. After what I saw Nadal do against Söderling I can’t imagine how he should lose against Murray. I find Nadals and Murrays grass-court play quite similair with one difference, Nadals forehand. Yes, Murray has the crowd behind him but the question is if that works in his advantage or not?

The semi-finals in ladies singles is a bit easier to predict if you ask me. I had Serena Williams as my pick to win the title and I believe in her against the unseeded Kvitova. Williams has been in this situation so many times before and it’s also a possibility that Kvitova is a bit satisfied with a semi-final in Wimbledon. Belief will be the key for Kvitova. Zvonareva and Pironkova clashes in the other semi-final and this is a bit closer. Zvonareva is the seeded favorite and I think she will be one size bigger than Pironkova in the basline rallies wich will give her the final ticket.
