Hummers, bowling and card tricks, and its only Day 1 of Scotty’s Boot Camp

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Our first Boot Camp day has just finished and I have to begin with saying that I was pretty surprised to see that all of our ten winners actually made it to Vegas! Ok – not on time, not with all their luggage, passports or perhaps even their full senses after 24 hour long trips, but none the less, they got here! We started up with jumping in a ten meter long, white hummer limousine that actually had a night club going on inside. It was more than enough to wake up anyone suffering from jetlag.

And when we were greeted by Scotty in his sergeant’s hat outside a private bowling suite filled with all the foods and drinks anyone could wish for, it’s safe to say that everyone was ready for the Boot Camp to begin!

Our big gang started bowling in good spirits and people saying they had only bowled once before in their lives couldn’t be telling the truth because no one scored under 100 points! I knew of course that I would be that person so I refrained from getting my stylish bowling shoes on.

Scotty’s team was close to winning but was beat by Dan’s team leading with our Polish winner Artur who cashed in a nice casino check as a first prize. The Boot Camp couldn’t have started off in a better way and we are all ready to get down to the real business tomorrow when Scotty will teach and instruct our players throughout the whole day, focusing on how to play a big tournament like the WSOP event #3 that our players will be seated for on the Saturday.

Follow us throughout the Boot Camp where we promise you more fun, more dramas, more poker and of course more VEGAS! Check the video from Day one and all view the images.

Scotty’s Boot Camp – Arriving in Las Vegas baby! [Guest blogger]

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

[Örjan Knutsson from Sweden won a full $10,000 Scotty’s Boot Camp package going to Las Vegas with Scotty Nguyen and playing in the WSOP. Scotty’s Boot Camp is being held in Las Vegas between 25-27th May.]

Wow! So now I am in Las Vegas at last. The flight went well even if I struggled to sleep the last night when I discovered thay my new passport number didn’t match the booking. It was of course never an issue but it gave me some butterflies in the stomach.

We landed in Las Vegas via Munich from Stockholm and this city that never sleeps gave me some energy just like that!

Dan and Denise from Expekt greeted me at The Venetian where Scotty’s Boot Camp will be held and I can’t wait for it to start on Tuesday. But now I will get some sleep and load some energy for the next couple of days.

I guess I need it! – Orjan Kunosson, Scotty’s Boot Camp winner

The guard tried to do his own take on Seinfelds soup-Nazi – Las Vegas here we come baby!

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Finally in Las Vegas baby, and we are getting fired up for the Scotty Boot Camp event with the winners flying in from all around Europe: Germany, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Czech Republic and Latvia.

When Scotty calls you can always expect some adventures and the start promised just that: We flew in from Malta via Munich and Chicago, and had some nervous moments at the over-crowded arrival desks where a guard tried to do his own take on Seinfelds soup-Nazi – “it doesn’t matter where you came from and where you are going, you all need to stay in this line and now you lot squeeze in a bit more, there is no place but you have to and then move on.” Thanks for the coffee, mate.

Well, eventually we made it and we even managed to munch on a Chicago Hot Dog before stewardess Bambi Fuss (yes, no lie, that was her name and damn that I didn’t take a picture on her name badge) welcomed us onboard the flight to Vegas.

While Denise was sleeping and trying to calm her hurting stomach (damn hot dog!)  I was sitting cursing the luggage that got lost on the way. When we arrived in Vegas I filed a report and was told by a lady at United Airlines desk that it was on the way and that it would be at our hotel at midnight. But no surprise, the luggage did not arrive and it still hasn’t so now I am running around in some cheap and strange bathing trousers – black, grey, you know the score – and trying to fit in. It goes well.

Vegas is good in that way that it is casual Friday everyday of the week. And Denise is recovering well from the hot dog attack as you can see and is planning a storming attack on the poker tables the next days with the customers who will get the best tips and advise you can get around Vegas from the champion himself, Scotty Nguyen.

We expect some eventful days and nights at The Venetian. It’s poker time, baby!

Scotty Nguyen finished eight in last week’s WPT World Championship

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Scotty Nguyen finished eight in last week’s WPT World Championship and is full of confidence ahead of the WSOP in Las Vegas which is the next big event for the poker legend.

- I feel much better this year compared to 2009 and I will be there at the tables to beat them in the WSOP baby, says Scotty. The Expekt.com poker ambassador was one of the main title contenders with ten players to go in the WPT World Championship at Bellagio.

- Everything felt right during the first five days and I was really gunning for the title, recalls world champion Scotty.

Scotty did an amazing run among the 196 players in the massive $25,000 buy-in tournament and had even the WPT Player of the Year Award in his hand if he would have won the title, but he finally busted against Daviud Benyamine with a set of eights against a set of tens.

- At that moment I felt bitterly disappointed, but looking back at the tournament, and also the spring overall, all feels very good for me at the tables now.

- Afterwards I went home and worked in the yard, it wore me out and made me happy again; I got other things on my mind.

This weekend, the online finals in the Scotty Boot Camp are held at Expekt.com were the lucky winners who will go to Las Vegas at the end of May, for an exclusive poker boot camp with Scotty and Expekt.com, will be picked.

At the end, David Williams won the WPT World Championship and bagged $1,5m. Scotty Nguyen cashed $105,823.
